Romania

Tues 19th Aug

Our journey through Romania continues. The people smile here, the landscape is interesting. We head for the hills. It does not feel like a European country, it feels "properly aboard" The weather is getting hotter, nearing 30degrees. There are flies here, that bite! Hope they enjoyed their meal of English maiden? Richard again came up trumps with our lunch stop. A delightful place by another river. We called it "bottle beach" as high water had swept in plastic bottle upon plastic bottle. We learn something today about plastic bottles. Did you know you cannot buy beer in a glass bottle unless you are going to consume it on the premises? A sweet girl in the shop we stopped at had with great patience to explain in sign language that unless we were to drink it now, we had to buy the beer in a plastic bottle. Guess that explains the number of plastics bottles everywhere...no not us!!!

Romania is interesting, dirty cars are illegal but clearly rubbish everywhere isn't. Such a shame for a pretty country.

Tonight we stop in a lay-by with a stunning view of the river, mountains and forest. Tomorrow we should reach Bulgaria, all we need to decide is by which route.
