Amasra on the Black Sea

Mon 29th Sept

We wake to sunshine and after negotiating some "interesting" roadworks, which were on a par with those in Pakistan, by late afternoon are in the harbour town of Amasra. It is a pretty town with three harbours. Having found the Otopark, we leave Fay in the company of the many cats who frequent the bay, waiting for titbits from the fishing boats. We wander round this quaint town, enjoying the evening sunshine. It is home of a famous fish restaurant, which we soon find. It is spotless and the food beautifully prepared and cooked yet all I manage is half a small salad! Damn it! I love fish and this is one of the best places to eat it but still I am in no more than nibble mode.

Tues 30th Sept

After a morning spent further exploring Amasra we go inland to the town of Safronbolu. It is old with steep, cobbled streets but very touristy as denoted by two coaches of Japanese visitors. The shops all sell the same tourist tat but we do buy some nice Turkish Delight.

By the time we finish wandering the old streets the day is drawing in, so we decide to stay put in bus come lorry park we left Fay in. We will move on in the morning.
